hell no. good acting doesnt mean literal acting. Acting should be done in a way that looks natural. It should never look as if the actor is reading the script. Authenticity is the most important trait of an actor. Dayahang rai when he plays gaule roles looks natural. He looks like some real rural dude with real emotions. and thats what makes him good at the roles. his authenticity. every anmol movies, he looks unnatural. Trying to force emotion out of him that looks fake. and thats the worst thing an actor can do.

I dont think his voice is really a problem. Voice can never be a problem for him imo since his voice is cool for his kinda chocolaty lover boy role. Its his dialogue delivery. it literally comes down to the thing Ive said many times already. He delivers the dialogue as if he is 'reading the script'. also that momo wala joke is just unfunny man. The dialogue itself fking sucks and the way anmol recites it makes it even worse.

His roles as a comedy lead in early 2000's to 2010's was his golden age. since 2016 he has become seriously greedy. Doing 30/40 films a year and none of them are good. I mean he cannot do anything about it. He is too old to be playing comedy roles that made him so famous. He never was that good of an romance actor so its not a possible option as well. So only option he has are movies with some serious social issues. and thats what he is doing for like a decade now. also his action movies sucks as well.

Last genuine modern good indian film I watched was sector 36, 12th fail and Aamis. made in 24, 23 and 19 respectively. They might even be my 3 favorite indian films ever. For songs ya. Modern indian songs sucks. Golden age of bollywood music was in early to mid 2010's. mohit chauhan singing with ar rahaman production in emran hashmi movies is peak bollywood music. But movies I will say recently they are getting better. There are more trash mainstream movies than before but there are also a lot more great underground movies as well.

Modern hyped south movvies like pushpa, kgf are just hype magnets. There are no substance to the movie. I loved south movies when they used to be so simple. In their romcom era. Dude comes to city, finds a beautiful woman, pursues her, girl doesnt care, some family drama sprinkled in, girls starts to care, dude beats up some guys in the climax and girl and the boy are happy together. These movies were fun to watch. Wouldnt say they are well made movies but these movies were the most fun Ive had from south.

And I have heard so many bad things about Tenet that i dont even wanna watch it lol.

I remember few things and one importnat thing that I absolutely love tsugumi seishirou. and thats pretty much all lol. maybe I just dont remember much. I think it doesnt feel odd.

anmol is the most un-authentic actor Ive ever seen. Ive never in my life seen him feel real. everytime he talks, walks, stares or do anything it just feels like an 'acting'. and thats the one thing you cant do. He doesnt even have to be a method actor. Just be an average actor man. In indian movies, people like ifran khan, manoj bajpayee, amitabh were insanely good method actors. and I dont expect nepali people to nail that lvl of acting but people like salman, shahrukh, amir, ranbir are just doing basic acting that feels real. Their characters feels human and not a 'performance'. and thats the important part imo. our modern actors just give off the vibe of '' just reading the script". that just sucks man lol. I think its just the first thing you should learn as an actor. "ACT NATURAL".

lmao man I think Akshay was good in like 90's and early 2000 and 2010's. He has been bad for like a decade now. I dont remember any of his memorable performance as of recently. He is by far the best comedy actor india has ever produced. Hera pheri, de danadan, bhool bhulaiya, houseful (only 1 and 2), welcome, khatta meetha are some of the funniest indian comedy shows. and akshay kumar is the heart of these films. and his romantic shits in late 90's and early 20's are pretty good too. these days he tries to do too much and fails at literally everything. his work on ' padman' and 'toilet' were pretty good and thats all I can remember from last decade. other than that he just has volume and no quality.

Thats just the suspense factor. tbh. it wouldve been harder if ring overcame froddo's temptation earlier. I dont see no problem. If something works it just works. sometimes things should be judged by feels. Always seeing something critically kinda takes away some fun. not everything can be flawless.

Ive never disliked them. They are fantastic both of them. Pipin especially. they at the surface level are just comic relief characters but their friendship and genuine care for each other takes it way deeper than just being a comic relief. and that makes the seperation even more impactful. pipin starts off as an impulsive dude that makes mistakes everywhere he goes and little irresponsible but towards the end you can see the changes and his gradual maturity. How he is finally able to make a critical decisions and take a little responsibility to his actions. and I love how his changes doesnt change him as a person. Pipin is still pipin. He is still somewhat impulsive, emotional and foolish but he has learned to be braver when things goes bad.

There are lot of more things going on for monogatari but I also cannot any studio making something like that work. also something like sangatsu no lion. I cannot imagine studios like ufotable or bones which excels at great fighting sequence to nail the portrayal of human emotion's through seer environmental and visual storytelling. and shaft as a studio is unmatched in this category which is perfect for shows like monogatari, sangatsu etc.

what you enjoy and wanna see is pretty subjective but I think the lighting is perfect in monogatari. It looks dim and has darker atmosphere which first pretty well with the isolation, trauma, guilt and other distorted perception the anime goes with. There are lots of scenes where there is literally nothing but a character and an empty background like empty hallway, empty stairs, and sometimes even a huge fking wall. and it elevates this strange feeling of loneliness and isolation. Its like a part of a character. also when karen is on the screen then its mostly extremely bright, like clear sky with some white clouds, it fits perfectly with karen's outgoing and energetic nature.

I think all of these are great at different things. I dont think dayahang has versatility. but his acting fits with one particular type of character. when he does gaule roles, it looks authentic and not acting at all. Bipin karki is genius at small physical movements like his facial reactions, hand movements, pauses, postures etc. he is unmatched. khagendra is my favorite actor. he to me is like the irfan khan of nepali movies. he doesnt play a character. he becomes the character. also my guy is also the best script writer so he is just him and saugat while sometimes feel like he is 'acting' and looks obviously fake. he has the most versatility. he can play romantic comedy lead in a show like sitamol, he can play as an anti hero in movies like sadanga, pure antagonist in movies like loot. he can do anything.

Ya I do understand it would be pretty cool. If frodo wouldve destroyed the ring himself it would mean he conquered his own desire of the ring. after all the corruption, temptations, sacrifices, and sufferring, he finally choses to give up the absolute power. It wouldve felt better for someone like us who supported froddo in his journey. Its def more satisfying but it would have some consistency problem while also gollum's character ending would be not as good. Gollum's entire personality and existence had become the "ring". I cannot imagine how his character couldve ended any better. and also froddo not being able to destroy the ring himself demonstrates the limits of human/hobbit. You cannot overcome the temptation for long. one day the ring would eventually consume you. We knew this from the beginning of the movie and the author sticked with it untill the end. I love the consistency. While froddo being the one to destroy the ring would feel better for vibes and all but logically and narrative wise its better that he didnt.

I mean as long as I remember he didnt even wanna be the king for like 80% of the story. also I dont know what you really mean by kingly traits. If you mean something like authority, dominance, agression etc then ya aragorn isnt that guy. Aragorn is more about humility, responsibility, leadership, service and these are also kingly traits. maybe more of a humble kingly trait. for me his virtues is worth so much more than his "non kingly" appearance. He is courageous, he is logical and doesnt let his emotion make a decisions, he is compassionate, he is loyal, he is patient, he is humble. and the best thing kingship isnt his whole personality, his characteristic makes him the king that people follow. and mortensen was an amaing person to play this role. If aragorn was some arrogant, dominant, agressive king then ya mortensen wouldnt fit. Like you said he isnt intimidating enough lol. he has such a innocent face.

thats completely valid lol. Sam easily is more inspiring. If you ask me who do you want beside you in real life. Aragorn or sam. Ill 100% say samwise. But its a fiction and Im looking this as a "writing" and I feel Aragorn is clearly a better written character while Sam is easily the better human being.
One of the best lines in the whole movie is when froddo is exhausted and almost completely consumed by the ring and says he cannot go any further then sam says "I cannot carry it for you, But i can carry you". its so fking good. he helps froddo not by being stronger and helping him by carrying a part of his burden, but he helps froddo by not letting him be alone when froddo is under that burden. also I like how sam is just sam. everyone has change in their mind at one point or they have changed as a person in the journey, but sam is just sam. he sees froddo needs help, he help. thats it.

Him not being able to live up to his father expectations. always being compared to boromir. I just hate their father. I was so happy when he died. also his father eats raw tomato. Like you deserved to die my guy.

same man. Ive 0 interest in anything spin off. Also it took me 2 years to watch lotr. I have this problem when I cannot make myself watch when I see something so glazed. Thats why I havent watched freiren or breaking bad or true detective. If someone tries to tell me how good this is or that is, then it just takes away all hype I had in the first place. Took me 2 years to watch lotr. and I fell in love immediately. I watched movie 1 in day 1 and 2 and 3 both on day 2. Its one of the very few shows that deserves all the glaze it gets

For monogatari I think the main appeal is the direction man ngl. characters are great but monogatari wouldnt be monogatari if it wasnt shaft animation and akiyuki behind it. thats why I consider Akiyuki Shinbou to be the best visual director in the industry. He has directed some of the best looking visuals in anime with monogatari, sangatsu, madoka magica, zetsubou sensei and god knows how many more.

Shaft studio excells at visual storytelling and their usage of symbolic imagery. the camera angles, still frames, extreme closeups, no studio comes close to shaft at these things. making little things interesting through visual language. I mean just look at the ep 1 of bakemonogatari. Ive never seen someone dropping from height look so soothing to watch.
and also one thing that shaft does better than any studio is how they are able to take something off of a character's head and present it visually to the audience. look at sangatsu for example. Rei's depression is inside his head, he doesnt tell anything, he isnt monologing, but coz of the environment, framing, colors, weather etc makes us know whats on Rei's mind. Thats the visual storytelling at its finest. Its a compliment to both sangatsu and shaft.

bro fk dayahang rai. I loved him when he played at talakjung vs tulke and loot 1. He had fking potential. He 'had' the acting skills. Even in kabaddi 1 he was great for his role. Then he just decided to stick to the "gaule" roles. now it feels like he can only do one role. and it also fking sucks man. Im so tired. We want people like bipin karki, khagendra lamichanney and saugat malla more. They are so versatile and fits in anyrole of any movie of any genre.

I do understand but realism alone cannot fully make up for repetitive writing. character development can regress and progress and its no problem but every recurrence has to add something to the character.
It can be: struggles ->learns something -> understands the problem -> regress -> thinks why she is regressing -> tries to improve -> learns. This adds something.
but it cannot be -> struggles -> learns -> regress -> struggles -> learns. This is doing same thing in a loop.

Ive watched the shogun assassination and farewell shinsengumi lile 5 times probably. They are quite easily the best 2 arc in my opinion. Just those 14/16 episodes are the best anime has ever been. literally peak fiction. also Yoshiwara in Flames arc is the one with kagura's backstory. It was the best arc in gintama imo untill I saw the peak 2 arcs later in s4.

Nice to hear you enjoyed lotr man. I love this shit so much. Probably my top 5 movie of all time. Ya the premise is incredibly simple. but I love how tolkien used such simple premise to explore loyalty, pity, morality, greed, friendship and so much more, Its just amazing.

I think it was better if he didnt. Ofc like froddo did all that, sacrificed everything just to destroy the ring but it does a great job of showing how a mere human (hobbit) cannot overcome power so great indefinitely. and gollum as a character becomes essential at that point especially. Frodo didnt 'win' by just being morally superior but his compassion created a chain of events that made it possible. I think its great ending that ring died with gollum.

My absolute favorite character is easily Aragorn. Him along side Gintoki and Slave knight gael (boss from the game dark souls 3) are my favorite fictional characters ever. I love how Aragorn is first of all badass. but his character goes so much deeper than that. I love how he understands how power comes with its own set of responsibilities that he cannot seem to want to contain. he could easily take the ring for himself. but he understands the power the ring contains and he know eventually the power of ring would overwhelm him. my absolute favorite moment is when he says to frodo " I wouldve gone with you untill the end, to the very fires of mordor". It might not sound as good out of context but this dialogue is who Aragorn is in a nutshell. he knows going to mordor is just a death sentence for someone like froddo. but it has to be done and its froddo's responsibility. But aragorn doesnt go cliche mode and says ill go with you Ill protect you and all those bs. He just says " I wouldve" and not "I will" coz its the choice froddo made. aragorn doesnt try to convince frodo he just shows his regret for not being able to accompany him. If samwise is the definition of loyalty and friendship then aragorn is the definition of responsibility.

then I think my second favorite would be samwise. Like youve said everything about him already lol. He is the purest character in the story.

I also like boromir a lot. He isnt evil like many people thought he was at first. I did too. He is just a human who loves gondor and wants to do anything to save it. I mean think about it. Mordor is beating gondor to a pulp. enemy are way too strong. and then you see a ring that you can possibly use to turn the tide of the war. wouldnt you do it? was he wrong? ofc not. he just didnt understand that the ring wasnt just a powerful tool. Its also something that will eventually consume you.
and also his corruption is gradual and extremely well done. He doesnt just come and goes "i want the ring". There are phases
he first realizes that the ring could be used as a weapon, then more he thinks more he realizes "why shouldnt we use it?" then he finally decides to take it from froddo. He isnt just a guy that became evil for sake of being evil. And his redemption is fking masterpiece. His death completed his wonderful story in a perfect way possbile.

I think there is a movie about the history of dwarves and elves rivalry called " Hobbits". I have yet to watch it so idk if this movie explains something more. I do believe Legolas is one of the more wasted character in the movie.

its a yes and also no. Ive had this exact conversation back in 2021 regarding my criticism towards Sonny Boy. Its one of the most unqiue anime Ive ever watched but its not a good anime imo. Something like Mawaru Penguindrum is a best example of me giving extra points for uniqueness of the show. Its unqiue and also is a great show. but if you have uniqueness but thats the only thing you have going for you then its not impressive. I dont really care about this but if someone point out this and say its a flaw then I dont think I have anything in reply. and one thing that I personally dislike is sometimes the dialogues get way too philosphical. Like sometimes characters are talking and they literally explain some abstract ideas. and for me it feels like the show is explaining the theme rather than letting us experience it naturally and interpret it for ourself. Its a great show. But it has problems that I can see. So I dont think me watching this before Barakamon or honey and clover or nana wouldve done anything. It would still be a great 8/10 show.

For me the things dont really matter after the 10's. Pashupati prasad and talakjung vs tulke are the two best nepali movies ever made imo. While things like Loot 1 (loot 2 sucks), purano dunga, sadanga and kagbeni are pretty good too objectively speaking. and ngl these are like the only "good movies" I can think of.

His lyrics are probably the best among the modern nepali artists.

nah man. Naru is living a kind of life that Handa has become unable to live. so I dont think naru has to be anything more than what she represents in the show. Characters in barakamon are so good because of their simplicity. naru is important because of who she is and what kind of life she represents. and I also dont think the lesson is as simple as " kids have fun, handa sees kids, he learn to have fun". There is much more to it. through naru and also all of the island members, handa learns and gets exposed to the life where the result doesnt matter. you can make something and it can be fking bad, but its worthwhile because its something you did from your heart and you enjoyed doing it. Just like how naru just does every bs thing imaginable. He doesnt care what happens, her mind is filled with " I like doing this, I am gonna have fun doing this, so Im gonna do it" she doesnt care what the outcomes may be. I do believe everything handa learns he learns basically comes down to him learning to enjoy life without the worry of outcomes. which basically is like saying he learned to have " fun". So I kinda disagree that Naru has to have anything more coz she is the main character. she is the perfect character as is and is the perfect character for someone like handa. and also the word "fun" in the context might sound superfical but that was basically was the missing part of handa's character. that he wasnt enjoying caligraphy. he always was thinking about the outcome rather than living in the present. he just didnt have the ability to enjoy what he was doing. thats why the main theme of ep 1 is literally (dont be surprised) "fun". He comes to the island. he spends a day with naru and he sees the beauty in life (metaphorically through sea and sunset) and my guy instantly runs towards his home and write his first word after coming to the island and the word was (yes you guessed it right) "fun". Its like he found the missing part.

Ya I do agree he doesnt only learn about having fun, He learns to become less obsessed with people's validation, becomes more comfortable making mistakes and with failures, learning to establish genuine relation with people, he stops defining himself entirely through his caligraphy ability. There are lot of things he learns through island people. But also all of them are the consequences of the "fun" theme and they arent much different. All these things that he learnt is the result of him finally enjoying his life. So ya "fun" might not be the only thing he learnt but it is the foundation that made the other dramatic changes possible. but also if you dive much deeper there might be other factors to his change

They all are slice of life but the intention is pretty different so we cannot really say this is the perfect representation of the genre. I think its Barakamon you think its Non non Biyori and honestly we are both right or we might also be both wrong. All comes down to preferences.

I recently watched Handa kun which is a prequel to barakamon. As much as I consider Barakamon a masterpiece, the prequel was quite not good. The show is going no where, everything that happened in ep 6 felt like Ive seen it already in ep 1-5. Im not into shows that doesnt give me anything to look forward to. And non non biyori fits well. I do think its really good anime but not quite what I expected from it.

I think you always had the wrong idea tbh. Barakamon and Handa's growth was mostly reliant on him having fun with kids but "kids" were never an major aspect it was the "fun" part. Handa was a phenomenal calligrapher but he never had fun writing. He wrote it coz he was good at it and he had nothing going for life. The entire show revolves around Handa finally having fun doing what he does. and who are the best way to represent "fun" if not for kids?. If a show relied on a deep philosophical themes and had children as the driving force then that would suck but something so basic like "having fun" then theres nothing more fit for the job other than actual kids. Him slowly realizing all that having fun doing what he likes to do is all that matters even if you arent getting good results. You enjoyed and thats all that matters. Kids in barakamon taught handa to enjoy life and find happiness in small things that occurs than always looking at the bigger picture.

Its definitely a 10/10 manga. anime isnt completed yet and some of the best part of the show isnt adapted yet. I didnt always have barakamon as 9 either. It was an 8 before. I completed the manga and rewatched it like 6/7 times already and Its been in my top 10 for like 3/4 years now. and maybe its my habit I talked about earlier. The manga is a masterpiece. and anime isnt as good as the manga. though I cannot really say a single negative thing about the anime either.

It comes down to the show's intention. For something like Brakamon. This is a prime example of SOL but there is also a destination. There is something the story is moving forward towards. The destination can be minimalistic but there has to be something. Non non biyori is just kids doing kid stuffs in their day to day life. There is no final destination to meet. Tara Barakamon is about Handa's growth and him finding his "art". Thats a end goal. Pretty basic but a goal nontheless. so story doesnt feel stagnant. Every day to day basic slice of life activities in Barakamon serves to meet the end goal. There is a reason I love Yuru Camp but I cannot say same about Non Non Biyori. For Yuru camp. Its still more about "atmosphere" but its fun to watch and think about the new places our characters are camping. Because there is something new to look forward to. new places of camping, new methods of camping. Things like non non biyori feels stale after like 6 episodes since there isnt anything to look forward to. Its just watching kids do kids stuffs for the sake of watching kids do kids stuffs.

He might not create a character that inherently is evil but someone else might. and thats not wrong. Also I dont know how my guy thinks Lord of the Rings glorifies violence. Violence is consistently potrayed as something tragic and costly. characters doesnt celebrate war and violence they just endure coz they have no other alternative. I mean if there is a pure embodiment of evil trying to destroy the world. Would you think about morality or just go with the only option you have? i.e war.

I think the best romcom easily is School Rumble, Kaguya sama would be a very close second.

Dragon doesnt have jack shit interms of feat but him being father of Luffy, Son of garp, worlds most wanted criminal. Narrative is single handedly carrying him. I am one of the people who considers narrative as much as feats. thats also the reason I think Mihawk currently must be top 3.

He was chilling but since warlord system was abolished. he is a criminal again and marines would try to capture him. I do believe he has conq haki. He must have. Its not confirmed yet but I dont understand how someone like Mihawk isnt gonna have one. Its the conq haki coating. It lets you damage enemies without even touching them. and also it neglets enemies defences if their haki isnt strong enough.
Also I believe Mihawk must have the strongest Obs haki user. Its just way too fitting for someone who is "World Strongest Swordsman". Conq I think its Shanks. Obs it has to be Mihawk. Armament still has to be Garp ngl.

Luffy is a fking moron but when it comes to fighting and protecting someone he loves he is as serious as anyone can get. Even in his fight vs Xebec, I doubt he went all out since he knew something was wrong with Xebec and Xebec wasnt himself. You can see him hesitate to kill Xebec after Xebec says "Roger please kill me". I think how you feel rn depends on what your expectations of "King of the seas" was. I always knew Roger was a moron even before the backstory. It was so predictable. Oda always tried to imply Luffy was alike Roger. I dont remember the exact dialogue but I remember even Rayleigh saying Luffy reminds him of his captain. So his this dialgoue would make no sense if Roger was complete opposite to Luffy as a character.

He might not have showed it much but he definitely wasnt 100%. He fought like 5 supernovas, yamato, like every ghosts of wano, had to hold up an entire island and also had to fight Luffy at his peak. He definitely was fatigued to some degree. Imagine taking a full power 100% zoro attack, fight other similar lvl characters for hours then have to fight Luffy. And also Kaido respected Luffy in their fight later on and decided to enjoy the fight than trying to actually kill Luffy. This matters a lot as well. I mean ofc he was defeated coz plot asked him to be defeated but it wasnt forced. If anything it shows how strong Kaido is and says a lot about his endurance. Having to fight like 6/7 top tiers in the show, holding up an island and pushing Luffy to his absolute limit before going down.
